Abstract

This paper aims to discuss, departing from the perspective of deliberative democracy, the structure of the mass media systems. The article will seek to clarify the theoretical and practical implications for democracy of the role performed by mass media in contemporary societies, shedding light on the implications of distinct forms of organizing the mass media. In the end, a regulatory strategy is suggested which the aim is to promote a more openned and plural public deliberation.
