The "Black Atlantic" and the formation of the contemporary black movement in Brazil

Abstract

The aim of this article is to study the importance of the struggles for independence in Africa and the civil rights movements in the United States to the constitution of the contemporary black movement in Brazil, in the 70s, as well as to reflect on some aspects that allow us to differentiate this contemporary Brazilian black movement from others existing before the 70s.
