"Baptism of fire": The Ministry of Labor and trade union control in the 1930s

Abstract

The creation of Labour Ministry on 1930’s put the State between the labour disputes envolving employee, employers and Labour Unions. The Brazilian labour legislation has been focused by it’s power to control Labour Unions, otherwise my aim is to understand the ways used by Labour Ministry to conquest respect to the State Institutions by giving some rights. I will discuss the leading of the labour minister Agamenon Magalhães and the conflicts between Labour Unions of Bahia State against Labour Ministry’s man on that State.
