Abstract

As part of a broader study on oppositionists’ publishers during the long transition from the Military Regime to democracy in Brazil (1974-1985), this article analyses the brief trajectory (1979-1982) of Brasil Debates Press, located in São Paulo. I explore the origins, aims and outcomes reached by this press. I also present the two current versions about the connections between the Brasil Debate Press and, on one hand, the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) and, on the other hand, a dissident group of this party. The main sources analyzed are oral history testimonies.
