Heirs of the Dragon: the 1964 Rebellion of the Sailors

Abstract

he article discusses the Rebellion of squares occurring in the navy of Brazil in March 1964. Accordingly, we analyze the main causes of the rebellion and claims, the events in the Navy and ships, the participation of political actors and the idea that the event was the trigger for the coup. Our main goal is to introduce other characters who had their life histories silenced because of the exaggerated focus given to a single character, aka sailor Anselmo.
