The role of the writer in the Crítica Impura of Astrojildo Pereira

Abstract

In this paper, we intend to address the role of the writer or intellectual in the book Critique Impura by Astrojildo Pereira. For this author, the writer plays a role in society and corresponds to certain class interests that will influence in his act of writing. Reflecting on issues such as Marxism, Russian Revolution, science, imperialism, journalism and political positions of Lima Barreto, Astrojildo defines at the same time its place within the field of writing production. The recurrence of the theoretical framework of historical materialism prevails in Astrojildo Pereira's analysis of the role of the writer, which has to do with its linkage to the Communist Party of Brazil. But this connection did not prevent him from building a critique beyond his attachment to the party.
