Abstract

The main objective of this article is to discuss the international vision and the transnational connections maintained by the three main leaders of Brazilian integralism - Plínio Salgado, Gustavo Barroso and Miguel Reale - with the outside world, especially with interlocutors in Europe and in the Americas. The central hypothesis to be examined is that similar thoughts and mutual sympathy do not imply in real interactions, and may only reflect the ‘spirit of time’ to which everyone referred to. The analytical proposal is to separate similar sympathy, agendas, diagnosis, and solutions from real ideological and political connections, in a way to identify more accurately the actors in dispute in the period considered.
