Abstract

The article highlights the emancipatory presence of diversity in democratic resistance. It focuses on one of the aspects of diversity considered central: the issue of black Brazilians and their struggles for emancipation. The body and the black corporeity are discussed as processes of social and racial emancipation. This discussion is part of a critical and insurgent thinking that can help the better understanding, through the progressive and left field, of the importance of identity politics and of valorization of black identity. The text also analyzes the dilemmas and challenges posed by structural racism embedded in Brazilian society, which has a stronger impact on black bodies in times of repression and setbacks.
