Contribution for the debate about National Defense Policy in Brazil

Abstract

This essay argues about the new conception of public policy and defense gestated during the Workers’ Party (PT) government, from taking up and updating the National Defense Policy document and the framing of the National Defense Strategy, as well as the Defense White Paper, which are the paper’s objects of analysis. We consider that the elaboration of these guiding documents is a progress on democratization, however, the orientations included in these papers weren’t incorporated into the military doctrine and thinking.
