A Prestista network: Various strands of the "children" by the “Letter to the Communists”

Abstract

Exploring the political plurality in New Labour/ Novo Trabalhismo, represented by PDT, the text analyzes the relationship, still poorly investigated, between labor and communists. The article presents the trajectory of ex-militants who recognized him as "Communists aligned with the Luiz Carlos Prestes’s revolutionaries positions, commonly called, "prestistas." The text discusses the images produced about Luiz Carlos Prestes; the importance of the political capital of communist leader for the consolidation of PDT as an authentic representative of the Brazilian left; the influence of these communists groups on the PDT. Finally, the intersections between these concepts and transformation project in Brazil.
