The labor unions and the coup of 1964: the experience of metalworkers of Rio de Janeiro

Abstract
This article analyzes, from the concrete experience of metalworkers of Rio de Janeiro, how was the time of the civil-military coup of 1964 in relation to its immediate impacts for those unions considered the "front line" at the time. Contrary consolidated views on the subject, analyzes the importance of workers' action, through their practices of resistance or collaboration within the environment dictatorial.
