Abstract
From the pages of the daily newspaper A Manhã, official organ of the National Liberation Alliance, this text discusses the "50 % Campaign", movement initially created by students from the city of Rio de Janeiro and took national scale in Brazil during the second half of 1935. The "50% Campaign" was aimed at achieving abatement of 50% in the means of locomotion and fun for students and the prices of books and school fees. Although interrupted by the communist military revolts of November 1935 the "50% Campaign" left an important legacy for the Brazilian student movement.
