Memories of Operation “Barriga Verde”: the hunt for communists in Santa Catarina

Abstract

This article aims to understand the right wing action together with the civil-military regime against the communist militancy of Santa Catarina during Operation Green Belly, the greater attack to the left wing of the state from the past 40 years, which aimed to the annihilation of the PCB in the state. For this, we gathered the memories of the arrested militants, family members and people who have had involvement with these individuals. During this work, it was necessary a wide bibliographical and documentary research on the period and the use of oral history, with interviews conducted by us and by other researchers, with those involved in the communist struggle.
